Guide to London

Stansted Airport

Stansted Airport is about 35 miles north east of London in Essex. Driving time to Stansted is around 1 hour 15 minutes from Central London.

I think the best way is to leave London by the A13. On reaching the A406, North Circular Road turn north and leave at the M11 junction towards Stansted. Leave the M11 at junction 8 and take the A120 down to the terminal (see map).

Taxis from Stansted Airport to London cost around £80. A London Taxi to Stansted will be over £100.

There is also an off peak train run by National Express which stops at all main stations which terminates at Stratford E15. National Rail Enquiries Tel.+44 (0)845 748 4950.

Car Hire

Remember that in London and all of the UK the steering wheel is on the right side of the car and we drive on the opposite side of the road from most other countries. That means it takes some getting used to. But a good driver who pays attention should not find it too difficult and there are car rental agencies for all the airports. You can use the form on the right to find the best rates.
